Brooks called the regulator “the most extraordinary of federal agencies.” According to him, the OCC team ensured the safe and reliable operation of the US banking system for decades to come.
COO Blake Paulson became the acting head of the department.
Brooks’ resignation appeared on 13 January. Under his leadership, the OCC allowed banks to provide cryptocurrency custody services, store collateral for stablecoins, and issue them.
We will remind, in November 2020, six members of the US Congress criticized the work of the regulator for the increased attention to cryptocurrencies.
