American woman accused of ordering murder for bitcoins

The US authorities arrested a 37-year-old Wisconsin woman on charges of attempting to organize a contract murder. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Justice.

The woman found the killer on the darknet. She provided the perpetrator with a phone number and a description of the alleged victim, information about her car, as well as the place of work.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, journalists from one of the media learned about the impending crime while working on material about transactions on the darknet. They found evidence of a Bitcoin transaction, as well as a screenshot of a wallet with $ 5,633 in cryptocurrency – the woman allegedly sent it to the site administrator.

After that, reporters contacted law enforcement agencies. During the searches, the police found on the computer of the alleged customer screenshots of the site and messages demanding to eliminate the target, the newspaper reports.

A Wisconsin woman faces up to 10 years in prison.

Earlier, a US citizen tried to order the murder of her ex-husband for 12 BTC through a fraudulent website.

Recall that at the end of 2020, the revenue of the darknet markets in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin and Tether exceeded $ 1.5 billion.
