The US General Services Administration (GSA) has announced another cryptocurrency auction. Bidding will open on March 29 and will last 48 hours, the website says.
The authorities have put up ten lots for a total of 6.79 BTC (~ 355,700 at the time of writing). GSA did not specify where the digital gold came from.
“Our first steps to enter the cryptocurrency market became one of the hottest auctions of 2021, but in reality it was just a test run […] We expect these trades to generate even more interest among cryptocurrency investors, ”said regional commissioner Thomas Mayron.
Earlier, GSA announced the sale of 0.7501 BTC. During the auction, 31 bids were made, and the winner paid $ 53,104 per lot – about $ 9,000 above the market price at that time.
As a reminder, in March 2021, the French authorities sold 0.11 BTC at auctions for € 26,800 (~ $ 31,900), which exceeded the market price by five times.
