Cryptocurrency scammers lured a resident of Kaliningrad 1.3 million rubles


A resident of Kaliningrad became a victim of cybercriminals who promised her earnings on cryptocurrency. This is reported by the local Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The woman discovered an advertisement on Instagram about earnings under the guise of an offer from a real-life bank.

The victim followed the link, after a while she was contacted by a “manager” who allegedly taught her how to invest in cryptocurrencies. Kaliningradka registered on the so-called “brokerage platform”, where she bought cryptocurrency, transferring her money to electronic wallets.

“Brokerage platform” regularly drew charts of decrease and increase in cryptocurrency rates, showed how much money is on the account of Kaliningrad, “forecast” and profit, ”the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

Later, the woman took out a loan and transferred the money to the accounts indicated to her. When she wanted to withdraw the funds, the manager stopped communicating. In total, the Kaliningrad woman lost about 1.3 million, law enforcement officials said.

Recall that a resident of Novokuznetsk lost 850,000 rubles in an attempt to make money on cryptocurrency.
