In February 2021, the income of Ethereum miners reached a new record, exceeding the $ 1 billion mark at that time.More than half of this amount was accounted for by transaction fees.
In March, miners of the second largest cryptocurrency in terms of capitalization earned $ 1.37 billion. The share of transaction fees in the revenue structure was 47%.
Recall that on April 15, a hard fork of Berlin took place on the Ethereum main network on block # 12,244,000. Four proposals were implemented, including a change in the gas price calculation algorithm (EIP-2565 and EIP-2929), as well as new types of transactions (EIP-2930 and EIP-2718).
Berlin did not include EIP-1559, which implies the burning of part of the transaction fees. Its activation is planned for the London hard fork, which is due to take place in July.
