The Prime Minister of Luxembourg announced his intention to turn the state into a blockchain development center

Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel at the Luxembourg Blockchain Week conference spoke about the government’s plans to create conditions for the implementation of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. CoinTelegraph reports.

“The goal of my government is to make Luxembourg a digital leader,” the Prime Minister said.

Bettel noted that the state has already achieved great heights in the development of digital technologies. However, to maintain leadership, it is important to continue development, the official added.

The Prime Minister noted that amid the excitement, he is pondering the release of his own collection of ties in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFT).

Bettel has been head of the Luxembourg government since 2013. He clarified that he is not a developer or a technical specialist, but he is convinced of the benefits of blockchain technology.

In February 2019, Luxembourg legislators created the legal framework for security tokens. According to the adopted document, the holders of blockchain assets are equal in rights with the holders of traditional securities.

Recall that in April 2021, the candidate for the post of Treasurer of New York Reshma Patel presented an urban development plan based on investments in blockchain business and cryptocurrencies.
