The American eBay e-commerce platform is considering accepting payments in digital assets, the head of the company, Jamie Iannone, told CNBC.
EBay is exploring options for adding new payment channels for its customers, including cryptocurrencies, Iannone said.
He also noted that the company is interested in the non-fungible token sector and is exploring ways to organize NFT sales.
In May 2019, crypto enthusiasts noticed an eBay ad with the words “Digital currencies. It happens on eBay. ” Later, representatives of the site denied rumors about adding support for cryptocurrencies.
Recall that in March 2021, Elon Musk announced the start of sales of Tesla electric cars for Bitcoin in the United States.
In April, flexible workspace provider WeWork announced accepting payments in the first cryptocurrency.
